About the College
Dedicated to promoting physically active healthy lifestyles using Tai
Chi, Qi Gong and Traditional Chinese Medicine, the TCM College of
Sports Medicine is a coalition of top teachers from the U.S. and
China. The Barefoot Doctors program, was founded in 2006 as a result
of research for the Oxford Roundtable lectures at Oxford University,
in England.
The directors of the college, Joseph Brady M.S.T.C.M. L.Ac. Dipl.
O.M., and Jacqui Shumway M.A., were invited in 2006 to lecture at
Oxford, on the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Health
Promotion in the West. The research conducted for those lectures
showed a need for greater public education about TCM and the
“Barefoot Doctors” health education program came into being.
Joe and Jacqui have conducted successful health education programs at
the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, The University of
Denver, St. Joseph’s and Porter Hospitals, and currently teach at
Metropolitan State College, Dept. of Human Performance and Sports and
Arapahoe and Red Rocks Community Colleges.
